Elizabeth Guenther

Meet filmmaker Elizabeth Guenther (@pennslizvania): writer-director, cinematographer, and the creator of short film “FEMCEL”.

A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Liz’s filmmaking journey began upon discovering the family computer’s webcam. From being an avid reader of Nancy Drew to eventually cutting together screen recordings of Club Penguin on Windows Moviemaker, Liz’s love for storytelling was exacerbated by her fascination with the Internet.

Even to this day, Liz finds online phenomena to be her greatest influence, specifically, witnessing people interact on the worldwide social setting of the Internet. This “unbridled addiction” indisputably inspired her work on “FEMCEL” (@femcelmovie), as well as her next project, “Sex Pest”, about a young man who cheats on his girlfriend and transforms his infidelity into internet fame while living out of the back of a U-Haul truck.

Liz received her BFA in Filmmaking from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts’ (@uncsa) School of Filmmaking (@uncsafilm) in 2024, concentrating in cinematography. It was there that she strode to spend time on as many film sets as physically possible, booking herself for work on every weekend, which is where she met her collaborators for “FEMCEL”.

In January of 2026, #FEMCEL premiered at 1716 Digital’s independent short film showcase in New York City. This upcoming October 1st, “FEMCEL” will be screening in Brooklyn, NY before it makes its online premiere on the @1716digital YouTube channel on Friday, October 2nd!
