With the cast & crew composed almost entirely of college students from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Shallow was a zero-budget passion project made out of love for the craft and dedication to spreading the story’s message.
We hope to take the next step by sharing Shallow abroad to continue participating in the dialogue surrounding the roles that toxic masculinity and patriarchy play in harming adolescent men.
In the time since the project was shot, behind-the-scenes content from the set of Shallow has attracted the awareness of a combined 7+ million views across only half a dozen TikTok posts.
This attention has brought about discussion from tens of thousands of commenters, engaging in the crucial dialogue that surrounds platonic intimacy, toxic masculinity, and relationships between young men in our society.
