Days of August

A forbidden romance set in a dystopian Appalachia.

In an alternate history 20th-century America that's dominated by a totalitarian police state, a movement to resist the government brews in the city of Harpswell. Set on supporting the fight against tyranny, Godfrey Kilpatrick is the recluse author of an underground rebel newspaper.

However, he is confronted by buried memories when he rediscovers the poetry journal of his lover, August, a sensitive revolutionary. Deciding to read it, Godfrey is forced to relive his heart-wrenching past through August's chronicling of their forbidden love, and must reckon with regrets from his upbringing as the son of an aristocrat in the heart of Harpswell's iron-fisted regime.

"a carefully curated blend akin to West Side Story and Call Me By Your Name, but in a dystopian setting..."
